We are selling our fleet of 14 carefully engineered 2 person pedal powered electric assist railbikes. These commercial strength machines were designed by a qualified mechanical engineer in 2022 and fabricated in 2023. They operated flawlessly for less than 2.5 years before we lost our railroad. Each machine underwent a thorough refurbishment in 2026 with new lighting systems installed, cup holders, new bearings, resurfaced wheels, and seat maintenance. These are the most thoughtfully designed railbikes ever built. We never intended to sell them, so no cost was spared with construction because cost cutting was never a consideration. They were designed for reliability and customer satisfaction. Equipment is located in California.

Features

  1. Fleet consist of 14 electric assist pedal powered railbike vehicle.
  2. Efficient design for longevity.
  3. Bolted aluminum frame construction without welds to reduce weight and avoid joint failure. Each car weighs 465 pounds.
  4. Extensive plating with zinc chromate and Alodine 1201 conversion coatings for aluminum surfaces to prevent corrosion.
  5. Steel wheel rims spun to proper railroad wheel profile that pass through conventional frogs without derailing. Wheels have 85% life remaining on them. Wheels have been black zinc plated to prevent corrosion.
  6. Wheel centers fabricated from hard maple and treated with epoxy sealer and polyurethane 2 part automotive paint ensure quiet operation, shock absorption and long term serviceability.
  7. Aluminum safety floor to protect feet and allow for safe boarding and prevent feet from being crushed during operation.
  8. Spring bumpers to lessen collision impacts.
  9. Two independent braking systems consisting of hydraulic braking system for both axles and parking brake that doubles as emergency brake.
  10. Except for Shimano cranks, drive train is designed and built using heavy duty #40 machinery chain and sprockets to ensure reliable operation with minimal maintenance. Our equipment maintained 100% reliability while in service.
  11. Proprietary electric assist system that is electronically programmed specifically for rail operations. Maximum speed is enforceable through programming. System regenerates and feeds unused current into battery system allowing longer distances between battery change.
  12. Efficient and safe Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries have been proven for at least 30 miles of operation traveling over 2% grades before needing charge. Batteries charge in about 2 hours.
  13. Seats use a reliable sliding mechanism that we designed and fabricated using a custom aluminum extrusion and durable delrin rollers. Cushions are fabricated using marine grade upholstery with three layers of foam for a comfortable customer experience. Riders safety is maintained through retractable seat belts.
  14. Center box for storage of customer items and newly added cup holders with rubber mat.
  15. Newly added energy efficient lighting system include white light front headlight, projecting amber floor lighting, and red tail light. Dual switches allow for headlight to be turned off independently from floor lighting while in terminals.
  16. Fleet has been stored in cargo containers and only in the elements when actively engaging in tours.

Two hydraulic turntables for turning vehicles at each end of the route. One is a manual foot pedal pump system, second is a newly built off grid solar powered electric hydraulic pump system, with backup hand pump in the instance of electrical failure.

Spare parts, including custom seat slider extrusion components ensure the fleet remains serviceable for years to come.

Restricted license of plan designs on USB is included in sale to allow for replacement parts to be made by machine shops in the instance the need arises.

Access to wheel rim tooling to fabricate additional wheels if necessary.

Equipment maintenance training upon transfer and telephone support for one year.
